A community of hope, a table of welcome, a place for you.

How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

-- Psalm 119:103

  • Have you been wishing there were more opportunities for Bible study at FLC?

  • Have you kept away from Bible study before because you felt like you “didn't know enough about the Bible” to participate?

  • Is your interaction with the Bible mainly limited to the readings we hear on Sunday morning?

  • Have you ever wondered about what makes the Lutheran way of reading the Bible unique and special?

  • Have you been longing to connect the Bible to your daily life, but at a deeper level than what you learned in Sunday School?

If you answered “YES” to any of these questions, you have some idea of why the ELCA has launched the Book of Faith initiative. As it turns out, even though Lutherans believe that the Bible is God’s word to us and points us to the good news of Jesus, many Lutherans also report that they are intimidated by scripture, don’t spend a lot of time in personal or group Bible study, and “just don’t know how to read the Bible as a Lutheran.”

As a response to this, the Book of Faith initiative is a set of resources to help increase Biblical literacy across the ELCA through a set of Bible study resources that are not only relevant and interesting, but focus on the uniquely Lutheran approach to scripture.

But more than a set of resources, Book of Faith is about a mindset for our church: that God speaks to us through scripture and that we as God’s people should “Open scripture and join the conversation!” We as a congregation are renewing our commitment to the study of scripture.

You are invited to our Come Together Church Nights, which feature feature a Book of Faith Bible Study at 6:30 PM on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month, followed by a brief, informal time of worship. We are currently studying our origins as God's people in the book of Genesis. Come join the conversation!
