Sunday School is not so much a “school” as it is a laboratory for the budding faith of young people. Each Sunday at 9:20 AM from September to May, children from age 3 to grade 6 gather with adult teachers and mentors to immerse themselves in the stories of the Bible, sing songs and pray for the needs of others, learn the beginnings of Christian stewardship, and always do something creative and fun!
This year we will be using a brand-new Sunday School curriculum called Spark!
Spark is designed to fit all the different ways kids learn.
Kids learn about their faith in different ways. Some kids learn best through hands-on activities. Other kids learn best through writing and reading activities. Still others learn best through a combination of activities.
Spark has been designed by children's education experts to accommodate all the different ways kids learn. Kids explore their faith through interactive activities and games, colorful lesson leaflets,
creative art projects, and engaging music.
Each lesson is structured around a clear lesson focus statement.
All kids explore the same Bible story each week, yet each age level focuses on the story in an age-appropriate way. Each Bible story has a Lesson Focus statement for each age level, and all content
reinforces that focus statement. Also, Bible stories studied in class match the Bible readings heard in church each Sunday, creating a connection between class and worship.
Spark empowers kids to interact and engage with the Bible.
Kids open the Bible and engage with God's Word each and every week. Age-specific Bible goals set for each age level help ensure kids interact and engage with their Bibles in age appropriate ways.
- PreK-K: Present ways for kids to relate with Bible characters and put themselves in the Bible story.
- Grades 1-3: Present ways for kids to comprehend stories, identify with characters, and apply an
action they can take in their own lives.
- Grades 4-5: Present ways for kids to know the Bible well enough to dig further into the stories, to interpret and determine ways to apply and compare Bible text to their own lives.
